Digit International Travel Insurance Comfort Option

Digit International Travel Insurance comes in two variants – Basic and Comfort, and in this article, we’ll know about the Comfort variant. Digit International Travel Insurance – Comfort Option Cover

Under this policy, the insurer shall provide you coverage against the following during your trip:

  1. Emergency Accidental Treatment & Evacuation
  2. Emergency Medical Treatment & Evacuation
  3. Personal Accident
  4. Daily Cash Allowance payable up to 5 days
  5. Accidental Death & Disability
  6. Emergency Dental Treatment
  7. Trip Cancellation
  8. Common Carrier Delay
  9. Delay of Checked-in Baggage
  10. Total loss of Checked-in Baggage
  11. Missed Connection Flight
  12. Loss of Passport
  13. Emergency Cash
  14. Emergency Trip Extension
  15. Trip Abandonment
  16. Personal Liability & Bail Bond

Exclusions from Digit International Travel Insurance – Comfort Option

The insurer shall not pay for the claims arising out of the following:

  1. War, any act of war, invasion, an act of a foreign enemy, hostilities, warlike operations, civil war, public defense, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped acts, chemical or biological weapons, an act of terrorism
  2. Participation in any naval, military or air force operation
  3. Injury/illness directly or indirectly caused by ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel/waste burning
  4. Injury/illness directly or indirectly caused by radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly
  5. Injury/illness directly or indirectly caused by pressure waves of aircraft
  6. Committing breach of law
  7. Consequential loss caused to you or by you to any third party
  8. Suicide or attempted suicide
  9. Self-inflicted injury or illness
  10. Consumption of alcohol or drugs
  11. Depression
  12. Any claim arising after the trip duration, except for the period of automatic extension
  13. Trips hindered by tour operator, travel agent, airline or other service provider bankruptcy
  14. Any tropical disease or contagious disease
  15. Accident while riding or traveling as a passenger in a Motorized Two-Wheeler without wearing a crash helmet
  16. Involvement in manual work or physical labor or hazardous occupation of any kind
  17. Flying an aircraft or taking part in other similar aerial activities
  18. Travel or accommodation arranged by air miles, loyalty or points-based ownership schemes, timeshares or such other promotion
  19. Refund of any course or tuition fees, project costs, sponsorship fees
  20. Return ticket cover in case you do not feel like traveling or you are not enjoying your trip
  21. Travelling to any country against whom the Republic of India has imposed general or special travel restrictions
  22. For cures of any kind and long-term stays in institutions like retirement homes, convalescence centers, centers for detoxifications, rehabilitation centers, etc.
  23. The trip is specifically planned to receive medical treatment abroad
  24. Participation in any hazardous activities

Digit International Travel Insurance – Comfort Option Extension

You can extend this policy duration by submitting a duly filled Good Health Declaration form to the insurer. Apply for the extension of seven days before the expiry of the policy, otherwise, the policy can’t be extended. If you have filed any major claim under the policy, the extension will be provided with an exclusion of the ailment/injury for which you have already claimed.

On policy extension, the sum insured won’t be increased. In a single trip policy, the extension is provided up to 95 days if the insured age is less than 70 years

Note: No extensions are allowed under this policy after the age of 70 years.

Claim Procedure for Digit International Travel Insurance – Comfort Option

To file a claim, follow the steps shown below:

  1. Notify the insurer by giving a missed call on +917303470000 from your registered mobile number or sending an email at travelclaims@godigit.com
  2. You’ll receive a call back within 10 minutes
  3. After that, upload the required documents
  4. And wait for the approval

Policy Cancellation

If you haven’t undertaken any journey during the period of insurance, you can cancel this policy and seek a refund of your premium after a deduction of INR 250. To cancel your policy notify the insurer within 10 days before the expiry of the policy. There will be no refund if cancellation is made 10 days after the policy period end date.

Cancellation of Single Trip Policy

No cancellation is allowed if you undertake a journey during the policy period. In case of an early return, the insurer will refund the premium as shown below:

  1. 15% of the premium is refunded, provided 50% of the policy period is expired
  2. 25% of the premium is refunded, provided 40% of the policy period is expired
  3. 30% of the premium is refunded, provided 30% of the policy period is expired
  4. 40% of the premium is refunded, provided 20% of the policy period is expired
  5. 50% of the premium is refunded, provided less than 20% of the policy period is expired

Note: You need to submit the proof of early return.

Cancellation of Multiple Trip Policy

Under the multi-trip policy, you will receive a refund of the premium as shown below:

  1. 15% of the premium is refunded, provided 50% of the policy period is expired
  2. 25% of the premium is refunded, provided 40% of the policy period is expired
  3. 30% of the premium is refunded, provided 30% of the policy period is expired
  4. 40% of the premium is refunded, provided 20% of the policy period is expired
  5. 50% of the premium is refunded, provided less than 20% of the policy period is expired

Note: No cancellation is allowed under this policy if you have filed a claim and received payment for the same.

Free Look Period

You will get a free look period of 15 days from the date of receipt of the policy, but before the start of the trip, to review the terms and conditions of this policy. If you disagree with any of the terms and conditions, you can return the policy stating the reasons for it. On policy cancellation during the free look period, you will get the paid premium refunded:

  1.  After a deduction of medical examination expenses and stamp duty charges if the risk has not commenced
  2. After a deduction of stamp duty charges, medical examination charges and proportionate risk premium for the period on the cover if the risk has commenced
  3. If only a part of risk has commenced, such proportionate risk premium commensurate with the risk cover during the free look period.
