What is the Process of Cashless Treatment?

For a cashless facility, you need to contact the Third Party Administrator (TPA) about the claim who acts as an intermediary to get you cashless treatment. To file a claim, follow the below steps –

  • Inform the TPA about the claim 72 hours before the planned admission and within 24 hours of emergency admission with the following details – name and address of the hospital, the condition requiring hospitalization, etc.
  • A duly filled and signed pre-authorization form is sent to the TPA by the network provider with details like – date of admission, name of the illness, proposed line of treatment and estimated expenses.

Note – The TPA requires the necessary documents within 15 days from the completion of post-hospitalization.

Where Do I Get Treatment if No Network Hospital Nearby?

In such a case, there are several non-network hospitals (which are not listed in the network) where you can go for treatment. But there, pay the bills upfront and collect the necessary documents from the hospital upon discharge. To file a reimbursement claim, follow the below steps –

  • Notify the TPA about the claim through mail or fax within 72 hours of emergency hospitalization and 72 hours before a planned admission.
  • Submit the discharge summary, investigation report and other relevant documents (Claim form – Part A & Part B) to the TPA or insurer within 15 days from the date of your discharge from the hospital.

What Documents Are Needed for a Reimbursement Claim?

The insurer requires the following documents –

  • A duly filled claim form issued by the insurer (Part A & Part B)
  • Original cash-memo from the hospital (s)/chemist (s) supported by proper prescription
  • Original bills, payment receipts, medical history of the patient recorded, discharge certificate/ summary from the hospital, etc.
  • Attending medical practitioner’s certificate regarding diagnosis and bill receipts etc.
  • Original payment receipt, investigation test reports, etc. supported by the prescription from the attending medical practitioner
  • Surgeon’s original certificate stating diagnosis and nature of operation performed along with bills/receipts, etc.

Note – For any other document the company/TPA will contact you.
