What are the Steps to File a Cashless Claim?

To get treatment at the above network hospitals, inform the Third Party Administrator (TPA) about the claim. A TPA is an intermediary between you and the insurer in providing you with cashless treatment. You can follow the below steps to get cashless treatment –

  • Notify the TPA about the claim 72 hours before the planned admission and within 24 hours of emergency admission by mentioning the following details – name and address of the hospital, the condition requiring hospitalization, etc.
  • After that, your network provider will send a duly filled and signed pre-authorization request to the TPA with details like – date of admission, name of the illness, proposed line of treatment and estimated expenses.

Note – The documents must be submitted to the TPA within 15 days of post-hospitalization treatment.

The Network Hospital isn’t Nearby – What to Do?

In such a case, you can go to a non-network hospital for treatment. Pay the bills, collect the necessary documents from the hospital, and apply for a reimbursement claim by following the below instructions –

  • Intimate the claim through mail or fax within 72 hours of emergency hospitalization and 72 hours before a planned admission.
  • Collect the discharge summary, investigation report and other relevant documents (Claim form – Part A & Part B) from the hospital authorities and submit them to the TPA within 15 days of discharge

What Do You Need to Submit for a Reimbursement Claim?

You need to provide the below documents –

  • A duly filled claim form issued by the insurer (Part A & Part B)
    Original bills, payment receipts, medical history of the patient recorded, discharge certificate/ summary from the hospital, etc.
  • Attending medical practitioner’s certificate regarding diagnosis and bill receipts etc.
  • Original payment receipt, investigation test reports, etc. supported by the prescription from the attending medical practitioner
  • Surgeon’s original certificate stating diagnosis and nature of operation performed along with bills/receipts, etc.
  • Original cash-memo from the hospital (s)/chemist (s) supported by proper prescription
