How to Get Cashless Treatment at the Above Network Hospitals?

You can get cashless treatment by intimating the Third Party Administrator (TPA) about the claim. A TPA is an intermediary between you and the insurance company that helps you get treatment. To apply for a claim, follow the below steps –

  • Get admitted to the hospital
  • Notify the TPA about the claim 72 hours before the planned admission and within 24 hours of emergency admission along with the following details – name and address of the hospital, the condition requiring hospitalization, etc.
  • The network provider will send a pre-authorization request for cashless treatment to the TPA. The form must be signed by the hospital authorities and you along with details like – date of admission, name of the illness, proposed line of treatment and estimated expenses.
  • The documents should be submitted to the TPA within 15 days of completing post-hospitalization treatment.

What Alternatives Do You Have if the National Insurance Network Hospital is Far?

In such a case, the insurance company allows you to go to a non-network hospital for treatment. But there, you need to pay the bills and collect the necessary documents from the hospital upon discharge. Later, apply for a reimbursement claim by following the below steps –

  • Notify the TPA about the claim through mail or fax within 72 hours of emergency hospitalization and 72 hours before a planned admission.
  • Collect the discharge summary, investigation report and other relevant documents (Claim form – Part A & Part B) from the hospital authorities and submit them to the TPA or insurer’s office within 15 days from the date of your discharge from the hospital.

What Documents Do You Need for a Reimbursement Claim?

You need to provide the below documents to the insurer –

  • A duly filled claim form issued by the insurer (Part A & Part B)
  • Surgeon’s original certificate stating diagnosis and nature of operation performed along with bills/receipts etc.
  • Original cash-memo from the hospital (s)/chemist (s) supported by proper prescription
  • Original bills, payment receipts, medical history of the patient recorded, discharge certificate/ summary from the hospital, etc.
  • Attending medical practitioner’s certificate regarding diagnosis and bill receipts etc.
  • Original payment receipt, investigation test reports, etc. supported by the prescription from the attending medical practitioner

Note – If any other document is required by the company/TPA, you must submit the same within the specified time limit.
