Vehicle insurance provides you financial security against several unfortunate incidents involving your insured vehicle. There are several insurance companies where you can get insurance for your vehicle without any hassle. But have you checked your vehicle insurance policy status? Check Vehicle Insurance Policy Status Online at Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIBI)

IIBI is a data repository under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Under its scope of services, IIBI offers V-Seva through which you can track accident records and check your car insurance online. To check your car insurance policy status online, follow the steps shown below:

  1. Visit the official website of the IIBI
  2. Click on the ‘Quick Links’ tab marked V-Seva 
  3. You’ll be redirected to the Accident Vehicle Information Retrieval System page
  4. Fill in the following details such as the name of the vehicle owner, address, mobile number, Email ID, vehicle registration number, date and place of the accident
  5. Click on the “Submit” button.

Guidelines for Conducting Car Insurance Policy Check

You can check your car insurance policy status if you meet the following conditions:

  1. You should know the registration details of your car insurance 
  2. You can search for a vehicle’s insurance information up to three times only
  3. You should use a single email ID and telephone number to conduct searches 
  4. The turnaround time taken by the IIBI to receive insurance information from issuing insurance companies can stretch up to two months. So, you might not be able to find your policy status on the portal.
  5. You can check car insurance policy stats for those vehicles only that have been insured after 1st April 2010

Check Car Insurance Policy Status Online through VAHAN e-Services

You can also check your car insurance policy status on VAHAN e-Services Portal by following the steps shown below:

  1. Visit the VAHAN e-services official website
  2. Click on the ‘know your vehicle details’ button
  3. Enter your car registration number 
  4. Enter the captcha for verification
  5. Click on the ‘search vehicle’ button

After that, the details of your car insurance vehicle will appear on your screen.

Check Car Insurance Policy Status Online on Parivahan Sewa

Parivahan Sewa is an online portal maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways that stores the data of all the vehicles across the country. Follow the steps shown below to check your car insurance policy status on this portal: 

  1. Visit the official website of Parivahan Sewa 
  2. Click on the ‘Informational Services’ button
  3. Select ‘Know your Vehicle Details’ from the drop-down menu 
  4. You will be redirected to the Vahan NR e-Services page
  5. Enter your registered mobile number 
  6. Click on the ‘Search Vehicle’ button

Now, check the details of your car along with its insurance expiry date.

Note: When a vehicle insurance policy is purchased or renewed, its data is updated on the Parivahan Sewa website within two days. 

Check Car Insurance Status at the RTO

To check your vehicle insurance policy status at Regional Transport Office (RTO) portal, follow the steps given below: 

  1. Visit the official website of your state transport office 
  2. Click on the ‘Online Services – For Citizens’ 
  3. Select the ‘Vehicle Related Online Services’ 
  4. Click on the link for ‘VAHAN Citizen Services’ 
  5. Select the details of your RTO where your car is registered 
  6. Click on the ‘Status’ button
  7. Select the option of ‘Know your Vehicle Details’ 
  8. Enter your car’s registration number, chassis no and engine no 
  9. Enter the captcha code 
  10. Click on the ‘Submit’ button
