Chola Janata Personal Accident Insurance Policy provides financial protection to your family in case of your death due to an accident. This insurance plan is available to persons aged between 3 months and 70 years. You can buy the policy for self, spouse and dependent children on an individual sum insured basis. Chola Janata Personal Accident Insurance Policy Base Cover

You’ll get the following benefits under the policy, such as:

Accidental Death: If you sustain any accidental bodily injury anywhere in the world during the policy period and it results in your death within 12 months of its occurrence, the insurer shall pay a sum insured as mentioned in the policy certificate.

Transportation of Mortal Remains: The insurer pays up to 3% of the Sum Insured or INR 6,000 (whichever is lower) for transporting the mortal remains of the insured.

Post-Cremation Ceremony Expenses: The company will also pay the actual costs or INR 5,000 (whichever is lower) for only one post-cremation ceremony.

Ambulance Cover: The insurer shall cover up to INR 1,000 for ambulance services following the accident.

Chola Janata Personal Accident Insurance Policy Optional Cover

By paying an additional premium, you can enhance your coverage by adding any of the following optional covers.

Permanent Total Disablement: In case the accidental injury results in permanent total disablement within 12 months of its occurrence, the company will pay a percentage of the sum insured as shown below:

  1. Loss of sight of both eyes – 100%
  2. Loss of two hands – 100%
  3. Loss of two feet – 100%
  4. Loss of one limb and one eye – 100%
  5. Loss of Sight of one eye – 50%
  6. Loss of One hand – 50%
  7. Loss of One foot – 50%

Note: The company’s maximum liability under this benefit is 100% of the Sum Insured.

Permanent Partial Disablement: If the accidental injury causes permanent partial disability within 12 months of its occurrence, the company will pay a percentage of the sum insured as shown below.

  1. Loss of toes (all) – 20%
  2. Loss of Great toe (both phalanges) – 5%
  3. Loss of Great toe (one phalanx) – 2%
  4. Loss of other than great toe (if more than one toe lost) for each – 2%
  5. Loss of hearing (both ears) – 60%
  6. Loss of hearing (one ear) – 30%
  7. Loss of speech – 60%
  8. Loss of four fingers and thumb of one hand – 40%
  9. Loss of four fingers – 35%
  10. Loss of thumb (both phalanges) – 25%
  11. Loss of thumb (one phalanx) – 10%
  12. Loss of index finger (three or two phalanges or one phalanx) – 10%
  13. Loss of middle finger (three or two phalanges or one phalanx) – 6%
  14. Loss or ring finger (three or two phalanges or one phalanx) – 5%
  15. Loss of little finger (three or two phalanges or one phalanx) – 4%
  16. Loss of metacarpals (first or second, third, fourth or fifth) – 3%
  17. Loss of Sense of smell – 10%
  18. Loss of Sense of taste – 5%
  19. Loss of Sight of one eye – 50%
  20. Loss of one hand – 50%
  21. Loss of one foot – 50%

Note: Any other permanent partial disablement percentage shall be assessed by the panel doctor of the company. The company’s maximum liability shall not exceed 100% of the Sum Insured.

If the accidental injury makes the insured file a subsequent claim under death or permanent total disablement, benefits payable under this section shall not apply and the amounts payable under the coverage of Death or Permanent Total Disablement shall reduce by the amount of any payment made under this section.

Accidental Medical Expenses Reimbursement

The company will reimburse the cost of treatment and hospital facilities in India, provided you are admitted as an in-patient for medical treatment of the accidental injury.

Education Benefit

If a claim is made under Accidental Death or Permanent Total Disablement, the company will pay an education benefit of 10% of the Base Sum Insured or INR 50,000, whichever is lower.

Conditions Applicable to Education Benefit

  1. The dependent child must be studying in an educational institute as a full-time student, on the date of the accident.
  2. This benefit isn’t payable if enrolment as a full-time student begins before the date of the insured’s death.
  3. The age of a dependent child should be between 3 and 23 years.
  4. The company will pay a one-time lump sum amount irrespective of the number of children.

External Aids & Appliances

The company shall cover the following external aids and appliances in case of a valid claim under total or partial permanent disability:

  1. Artificial Limbs
  2. Crutches
  3. Wheel-chair

Terrorism Cover

The insurer shall cover claims arising due to terrorism. This will include any act of terrorism such as the use of force or violence, the threat of any person whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organization(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological or similar purposes, intention to influence any government by putting the public or any section of the public in fear excluding war and warlike operations due to terrorism.

General Exclusions from Chola Janata Personal Accident Insurance Policy

The insurer does not provide benefits for any death or disability if it is attributable directly to the following:

  1. Intentionally self-inflicted injury, suicide or any attempt
  2. Any pre-existing condition or any complication arising from it
  3. Any kind of murder caused by pre-meditated and dominant intention to kill the person.
  4. Any kind of insect bite
  5. Congenital external defects or anomalies or their consequence
  6. Pregnancy or childbirth or its consequence thereof.
  7. Any treatment other than Allopathy
  8. Ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or waste
  9. Radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any explosive nuclear equipment
  10. War, invasion, an act of the foreign enemy, hostilities, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, mutiny, military or usurped power, seizure, capture, arrests, restraints and detainment of all kings, princes, and people of whatsoever nation condition or quality.
  11. Nuclear, Chemical and biological terrorism
  12. Participation in naval, military or air force operations
  13. Alcohol or drug abuse
  14. Participation in an illegal act or any violation or attempted violation of the law o
  15. Engaging in aviation or ballooning, whilst mounting into, dismounting from or traveling in any balloon or aircraft other than as a passenger
  16. Participating in contests of speed using a motorized vehicle or bicycle, hunting, skiing, skydiving, gliding, mountaineering and winter sports
  17. Driving the vehicle as a driver, co-driver or passenger during motor racing or trial runs
  18. Consequential losses of any kind
  19. Any events/incidents happening before the policy inception
  20. Participating or training for any sport as a professional.
  21. Terrorism unless the optional cover is opted by you
