Coverage Under Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan

Hospitalization Expenses for Covid-19 are covered if the hospitalization period is a minimum of 24 hours. For pre-hospitalization, a 15-day cover before the date of hospitalization/homecare treatment is for the insured. In case of a post-hospitalization cover, there is a 30-day period from the date of discharge from the hospital or the completion of homecare treatment will be provided.

And there are certain sub-limits on your Hospital Daily Cash, which is 0.5% of the Sum Insured per day up to 15 days in a policy period for every member who is insured under the Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan. Home Care Treatment coverage is up to 14 days per incident and AYUSH Medical Expenses incurred due to Covid will be covered up to the sum insured.

Note:- No Room Rent Capping will apply to Single Private room only.

Exclusions From Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan

  1. Investigation & Evaluation
  2. Rest Cure, Rehabilitation and Respite Care
  3. Dietary supplements and other substances without a prescription
  4. Any claim concerning Covid where it was diagnosed before the policy start date.
  5. Daycare Treatment & OPD
  6. COVID Diagnosis or Treatment outside the geographical limits of India
  7. Testing at an unauthorized diagnostic center which is not recognized by the Government of India.
  8. Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan benefits shall cease if the insured travels to any country placed under travel restrictions by the Government of India.
  9. Treatment or Medical Advice from a Medical Practitioner who is not recognized by the Medical Council of India, Central Council of Indian Medicine, Central council of Homeopathy, relevant authorities in the area
  10. Treatment or Medical Advice related to one system of medicine from a Medical Practitioner of another system of medicine.
  11. An insured immediate family or relatives is a doctor and the insured seeking treatment from him.
  12. Treatment provided at an unrecognized hospital or health facility
  13. Health Hydros, Nature Cure Clinics or any establishment not recognized as a hospital or healthcare facility.

Claim Procedure for Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan

There are two ways by which you can claim your Max Bupa Corona Kavach Health Insurance Plan one is cashless while the other is reimbursement. Let’s learn about them one by one.

Cashless Claim

Max Bupa offers you a wide range of cashless network hospitals of 4,800+. And there is no paperwork involved in Max Bupa’s cashless claim. You just need to inform the insurer when you are diagnosed with COVID-19 and if the doctor has recommended hospitalization. After informing Max Bupa, choose from the network hospital where you want to be admitted.

Use the Max Bupa Health Card or tell your policy number and show your passport photo, PAN card or Voter’s card along with your medical records for identification. When the Network Hospital confirms your identity and submits the pre-authorization form to Max Bupa, the insurance company will check the details and confirm it to the network hospital via fax/e-mail.

When the procedure is done, you get admitted for treatment and need to sign all documents, forms and invoices.

Note:- The hospitalization expenses will only be claimable if the period of hospitalization is for a minimum of 24 hours.

Reimbursement

To seek reimbursement, first get admitted to any recognized Hospital for COVID treatment. Pay the hospital fees or doctor charges from your pocket and collect all the relevant documents, invoices, medical reports, discharge certificate, etc. And send these documents to Max Bupa along with a duly filled reimbursement application form, valid ID proof, age proof, recent passport photo and a canceled cheque leaf with preprinted account holder name and IFSC code on it. The insurance company will check the submitted details carefully and reimburse you only after successful verification.
