The Rajasthan Government has launched Chiranjeevi Yojana to ensure social security to weaker sections of the society and help reduce the gap between the rich and poor. Launched by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a virtual event, Chiranjeevi Yojana is a Universal Health Insurance Scheme that will be implemented from May 1, 2021. With this scheme, every family of Rajasthan will get insurance coverage of INR 5 lakh per year against the expenses incurred on medical treatment.

One of the best things about Chiranjeevi Yojana is that patients suffering from COVID-19 will also get covered under this scheme. According to Ashok Gehlot, this INR 3,500 crore scheme will prove to be a historic step as it will provide a right to health to the families living in Rajasthan.

Let’s Understand the Features of Chiranjeevi Yojana in Detail

  1. Beneficiaries under this scheme will get coverage up to INR 5 lakh per year against expenses incurred on medical treatment taken at 765 State Government Hospitals, and more than 330 empanelled private hospitals.
  2. With this Universal Health Insurance Scheme from Rajasthan Government, individuals will get coverage for 1,576 types of packages and procedures. You will be covered against Cancer, Diseases related to Cancer and Kidney, etc.
  3. Individuals will also get coverage against expenses incurred on pre-and post-hospitalization up to 5 days and 15 days, respectively.
  4. Beneficiaries registered under National Food Security and Social Economic-Caste Census – 2011 don’t need to register for the Chiranjeevi Scheme. They will get the benefits under the scheme as before.

Beneficiaries under Chiranjeevi Yojana Universal Health Insurance Scheme

Under the Chiranjeevi Yojana, beneficiaries can be divided into two types. The first type will be current beneficiaries and family members under NFSA and SECC along with farmer families, contract workers, and weaker sections of societies (who got COVID-19 help amount from the Government). Beneficiaries under this type will not need to pay anything under this scheme.

The second type of people will be those individuals who are not enrolled under the rules of Medical Attendance. Such people can enjoy the benefits of Chiranjeevi Yojana by paying a premium of INR 850 per year per family. The remaining premium amount will be borne by the Rajasthan Government.

How to Seek Benefit Under Chiranjeevi Scheme?

Beneficiaries under the Chiranjeevi Scheme will need to follow the steps mentioned below to seek benefits under the scheme. Please check!

  1. To identify the family of the beneficiary, individuals will need to show Jan Aadhar Card Number/ Jan Aadhar EID/ Policy Documents/ Aadhar Card. You will need to show these documents to the hospital at the time of hospitalization.
  2. The beneficiary’s identity will be established after identifying the family. To do the same, the hospital will fill in the Jan Aadhar Card Number or registration number in the software that will provide the details of the grade of the family and their member details. Individuals can only seek benefit under this scheme only after details of the family appear in the software.

Important Note: Children up to 5 years of age don’t need to present biometric verification and a Photo ID Card to get the cashless treatment. The TID of children can be generated by any family’s member biometric verification.
