Pregnancy requires the right medical facilities and consultations. So to take care of that, you can buy either a health insurance plan with maternity cover or a full-fledged maternity insurance plan. Some base health plans may not have maternity cover. But you can buy a maternity rider to have the maternity benefit intact. As you know the medical advancements have also led to increasing the cost of maternity treatment. The insurer shall cover the following pre and post-natal expenses under maternity insurance:
Pre Natal Expenses – You’ll get the benefit of medical check-ups, various tests, ultrasounds, medicines, etc.
Post Natal Expenses – The insurer shall cover the medical check-ups, treatments and vaccinations of the baby, etc. under maternity insurance.

Under this plan, you’ll get maternity benefits up to INR 1,00,000. The New Born Baby Cover is available up to INR 50,000. The insurer shall also cover the vaccination for newborns up to INR 10,000 including the limit defined under the New Born Baby Cove.
Note: Maternity benefits are available under Magma HDI OneHealth Plan if you opt for the Premium variant.
This health insurance plan covers all the expenses traceable to childbirth including complicated delivery and cesarean sections under hospitalization expenses. Maternity cover also covers the lawful medical termination of pregnancy during the first 12 weeks from the date of the conception.
You can increase the maternity benefit by INR 50,000 to INR 3 Lakh if you opt for the Gold or Platinum variant in Edelweiss Complete Health Insurance.
Bharti AXA Smart Super Health Insurance Plan provides maternity cover for delivery, childbirth, pre and post-natal, etc. Under the policy, up to two deliveries and termination of pregnancy are allowed. Also, there is a newborn cover for the first 90 days since the birth of the child.
Under the policy, the insurer shall cover medical expenses associated with the delivery of a child including complicated deliveries and cesarean sections during the policy term.
