Coverage Limit for Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy
Star Health capped the covered medical expenses, so your sum insured doesn’t exhaust early. Let’s have a look at them below:-
- Expenses on hospitalization at 1% of the Sum Insured per day
- ICU expenses at 1.5% of the Sum Insured
- Emergency ambulance charges at INR 750 per event and up to INR 1,500 per policy period
- Pre-hospitalization is covered up to 30 days before hospitalization
- Post-hospitalization is capped at 7% of the hospitalization expenses except for the room rent, subject to a maximum of INR 5,000 up-to 60 days after discharge from the hospital
Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy also covers Surgeon’s, Anesthetist, Consultants and Specialist Fees, and the cost of Anesthesia, Blood, Oxygen, Operation theatre charges, cost of Pacemakers, Drugs and Medicines used in treatment for the covered illness or injury.
Waiting Period in Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy
Your pre-existing treatments and their complications will be covered under Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy after a waiting period of 48 months. Whereas the expenses related to the following shall be excluded until the expiry of a 24-month waiting period:-
- Cataract
- Degenerative disc of vertebral diseases and prolapse of the intervertebral disc
- varicose, veins and varicose ulcers
- Benign prostatic hypertrophy
- Deviated nasal septum
- Sinusitis
- Tonsillitis
- Nasal polyps
- Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media and the related disorders
- hernia, hydrocele, fistula or fissure in ano and hemorrhoids
- Congenital internal disease or defect
- All treatments for Hepatobiliary Gallbladder and Pancreatic stones and Genitourinary calculi
- All treatments for Uterine prolapse, Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding, Fibroids, Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases
- All diseases of fallopian tubes and ovaries
- Arthroscopic repair or removal
Note:- A 30-day waiting period will apply to Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy from the date of its commencement for expenses related to the treatment of any illness.

- Dietary supplements and medicines which is not prescribed by a certified doctor
- Refractive error < 7.5 diopters
- Unproven treatments
- Sterility and infertility
- Maternity expenses
- Circumcision
- congenital disease/defect whether external or internal
- convalescence, general debility, run-down condition
- Intentional self-injury
- Venereal disease other than HIV
- Injury or Illness due to War, Invasion, Act of Foreign Enemy and Warlike operations
- Injury or Illness due to nuclear weapons or materials
- Naturopathy treatment
- Inoculation or Vaccination (except for post-bite and therapeutic medical reasons)
- Dental treatment or surgery
- Hospital registration charges, record charges, incidental and miscellaneous charges
- Cost of spectacles, contact lens, hearing aids walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, etc.
- Existing diseases, disclosed by the insured and mentioned in the policy based on insured’s consent as per the specified ICD codes
- Treatment of diseases/illness/accidental injuries by a system of medicine other than allopathy

Free Look Under Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy
You will have a maximum of 15 days within which you can read the terms and conditions of Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy and return it if you don’t agree to any of the Star Health terms and conditions. And the plus point in this cancellation is that if you haven’t made any claim from the policy, you will be entitled to receive your paid premiums after a deduction of stamp duty and medical examination charges (if borne by the company).
Claim Procedure for Star Health Family Delite Insurance Policy
Claim your sum insured from Star Health by calling at the 24X7 help-line number – 1800 425 2255 or 1800 102 4477. If you have a planned hospitalization, inform Star Health 24 hours before hospitalization. On the other hand, in case of an emergency admission, inform Star Health within 24 hours of hospitalization and receive cashless treatment at any of the network hospitals. If the network hospital is far from your place, get treatment in a non-network hospital, and get the expenses reimbursed from Star Health by submitting necessary documents after getting discharged.
