Star Health Cancer Care Gold plan is the first-ever Health insurance Pilot product that provides insurance to individuals diagnosed with Cancer. There are a few key features of this plan that you should know before choosing the same. Check out the features below.

One of the best features of this plan from Star Health is that it is the first-ever unique pilot product that caters to the health needs of persons who are fighting Cancer.  It is launched on a test basis for 5 years. Remember that the period of insurance will be 1 year, and can be renewed every year.
  2. With the Star Health Cancer Care Gold Plan, policyholders will get a lump sum cover amount if there is any recurrence, metastasis, and/or a second malignancy that has no relation to your first cancer. This amount will be 50% of the Sum Insured.
  3. This Health Insurance Plan does not only provide cover for Cancer but also the Regular Indemnity Health Cover for accidents and illness.
  4. To choose this policy, policyholders don’t need to undergo any pre-acceptance medical screening tests. So, if you are worried about complex and tiresome medical tests, you don’t need to. Individuals only need to submit previous medical records including the latest treatment that you are undergoing.
  5. There is an important thing that you need to know that you cannot increase your sum insured after choosing it once, even when you decide to renew your plan.
  6. This plan has a total of three sections – Lumpsum Benefit, Indemnity Cover for Surgical & Interventional Therapy, and Indemnity Cover for Non-Surgical & Non-Interventional Therapy. The sum insured amount will vary according to the section.
  7. You can get the tax benefits when you make the premium payment by any mode other than cash under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Co-payment Under Section 2 & 3 Related to Indemnity Benefit

If the age of an insured person is above 60 years during the first inception of the policy, the plan will have a 10% copayment. Also, remember that co-pay will also be applicable on respective renewals.

What do Indemnity Sections (2 & 3) Cover?

  1. Room Boarding expenses, Nursing Expenses according to the Nursing Home/ Hospital
  2. Surgeon, Anesthetist, Medical Practitioner, and Specialist Fees
  3. Expenses related to the Emergency Ambulance up to an amount of INR 1,500 per hospitalization, with an overall limit of INR 2,000 per policy period
  4. Pre-hospitalization medical expenses for a period not more than 30 days
  5. Post-hospitalization medical expenses for 60 days from the date of discharge from the hospital
  6. All daycare procedures will be covered in this plan

What is the Waiting Period for Different Sections of the Star Health Cancer Care Gold Plan?

For Section 1, the waiting period is 30 months from the first inception of the health insurance plan from Star Life. The treatment can only be started only after this waiting period. For Section 2 and Section 3, there will be a specified waiting period of 30 days. For a specified disease/procedure, there will be a waiting period of 24 months. For any treatment of pre-existing disease except Cancer, the waiting period stands at 48 months.

Star Health Cancer Care Gold Plan Eligibility Criteria

What are some of the important conditions related to the Star Health Cancer Care Gold Plan that an individual needs to meet? Well, you can check them out below.

  1. Individuals aged between 5 months and 65 years diagnosed with Cancer (Stage 1 or Stage 2) can choose this plan.
  2. The Sum Insured type for this health insurance plan is Individual.
  3. The proposer for this policy may cover Self, Spouse, Dependent Children, and Dependent parents.
  4. The maximum term for your policy can be 1 year.
  5. Individuals can return the policy within a free look period of 15 days from this policy. However, there will not be any free look period at the time of renewal.
