Flexible Sum Insured Options

Under the AccidentCare Plan, the minimum sum insured stands at INR 5 lakh and can be increased up to INR 2 crore in multiples of 5 lakh. You can choose the sum insured according to your needs.

What is the Policy Term?

Policyholders can choose from multiple policy term options – 1, 2 or 3 years.

Accidental Death Benefit

If an insured person dies due to an accidental injury (within 365 days from the date of occurrence of the accident), the policy will pay 100% of the sum insured to the nominee.

Accidental Permanent Total Disability Benefit

If an insured person suffers permanent total disability due to an accident, the policy will pay 125% of the chosen sum insured. Here, permanent total disability means disablement of the person to an extent that forces any of the following conditions.

  1. Unable to work
  2. Loss of use of limbs or sight
  3. Loss of independent living

In the case of an accidental permanent partial disability, the plan will pay up to 100% of the sum insured. The percentage of the sum insured will depend on the nature of the injury.

Child Education Benefit

If the policyholder dies or faces permanent total disability and the insurer has accepted the claim, the policy will also pay a lump sum amount as an education benefit for each of his or her dependent children. The lump sum amount will be 5% of the sum insured (up to INR 50,000) and INR 5,00,000 for the sum insured under and above INR 25 lakh, respectively.

Funeral Expenses

The policy will also cover the funeral expenses if the death happens due to an accident. This one-time benefit would be INR 5,000 and INR 50,000 for the sum insured under and above INR 25 lakh, respectively.

  1. For Adults, the minimum and maximum age at entry stand at 18 and 65 years, respectively.
  2. The minimum age at entry for dependent children ranges from 2 to 21 years.

What is Not Covered under the Plan?

Under this plan from Niva Bupa, you will not get coverage in the following situations.

  1. Suicide or self-inflicted injury (whether the insured person is medically sane or insane)
  2. War (whether declared or not), invasion, the act of a foreign enemy, hostilities, civil war, etc.
  3. Any change of profession after the inception of the policy which results in the enhancement of the company’s risk
  4. Committing an assault, a criminal offense or any breach of law with criminal intent
  5. Taking or absorbing, accidentally or otherwise, any intoxicating liquor, drug, narcotic, medicine, sedative or poison, except as prescribed by a treating doctor
  6. Death or disablement caused by ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel
  7. Participation in aviation/marine including crew other than as a fare-paying passenger in an aircraft/watercraft that is authorized by the relevant regulations to carry such passengers between established airports or ports
  8. Participation in professional/adventure sports or any hazardous pursuits, such as speed contests or racing of any kind (other than on foot), bungee jumping, parasailing, etc.
  9. Any disability arising out of pre-existing diseases
