Flexible Sum Insured

Under National Parivar Mediclaim Policy, policyholders can choose the sum insured according to their affordability. The options range from INR 1 to 10 lakh.

In-patient Treatment Coverage

With the National Parivar Mediclaim Policy, policyholders will get the coverage against following medical expenses.

  1. Room charges and intensive care unit charges (including diet charges, nursing care by a qualified nurse, RMO charges, administration charges for IV fluids/blood transfusion/injection)
  2. Medical practitioner(s)
  3. Anaesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, surgical appliances
  4. Medicines and drugs
  5. Diagnostic procedures
  6. Prosthetics and other devices or equipment if implanted internally during a surgical procedure
  7. Dental treatment necessitated due to an injury
  8. Plastic surgery necessitated due to disease or injury
  9. Hormone replacement therapy, if medically necessary
  10. Vitamins and tonics, forming part of treatment for disease/injury as certified by the attending medical practitioner
  11. Circumcision necessitated for treatment of a disease or injury

Pre and Post-Hospitalization Expenses

This policy also provides coverage against expenses incurred 30 days before and 60 days after the hospitalization, respectively, up to the sum insured. However, such expenses should be incurred for the same condition for which the hospitalization is needed.

Domiciliary Hospitalization

The policy will reimburse the medical expenses under domiciliary hospitalization (including pre and post-hospitalization expenses) up to 10% of the sum insured or INR 50,000. However, it will not cover treatment of less than three days, expenses on alternative treatment, for maternity, etc.

Day Care Procedures

If a policyholder is undergoing medical treatments that do not require minimum 24-hour hospitalization, the policy will pay the expenses incurred on such treatments up to the sum insured limit.

Organ Donor Medical Expenses

If a policyholder needs to undergo an organ transplant, National Parivar Mediclaim Policy will cover the expenses of hospitalization of the organ donor up to the sum insured during the policy period. Also, the insured person should have been medically advised to undergo an organ transplant.

Hospital Cash

If the hospitalization of the insured person exceeds 3 days and a claim has been admitted, he/she will get a daily cash allowance of up to INR 300 for up to 5 days of continuous hospitalization.

Ambulance Charges

This policy also provides up to INR 1,000 per illness towards ambulance charges if an insured person needs to get transported to the nearby hospital. The maximum coverage will be INR 2,500 per policy year.

Anti Rabies Vaccination

Policyholders will also get coverage against the expenses incurred for anti-rabies vaccination up to INR 5,000 for each insured person in a policy year.

Maternity Expenses

After a waiting period of three years, you can also get coverage against maternity-related expenses (including baby from birth cover) up to 10% of the sum insured or INR 30,000 (in case of normal delivery) and INR 50,000 (in case of cesarean section).

National Parivar Mediclaim Policy Eligibility Criteria

Any individual between 18 and 65 years can purchase the Parivar Mediclaim policy. Under the family floater option, at least two family members – Self, Spouse, Dependent legitimate or legally adopted children, and Parents can get coverage.

What is Not Covered Under National Parivar Mediclaim Policy?

Insured persons will not get any coverage against the expenses incurred in the following situations.

  1. Any treatment taken outside India
  2. Naturopathy and experimental treatment
  3. Surgery for correction of eyesight due to refractive error, spectacles, contact lens, hearing aid, cochlear implants
  4. Any hospital admission primarily for investigation/ diagnostic purpose
  5. Drug/ alcohol abuse
  6. Any service charges, admission fees/ registration charges levied by the hospital
  7. Hazardous sports, war or warlike operations
  8. Radioactivity
