ICICI Lombard Personal Care Insurance Policy Coverage

The benefits payable under this plan are as follows –

Death Benefit: The capital sum insured as specified in the policy schedule against this benefit shall be paid to the nominee in case of death of the insured within twelve months from the date of bodily injury.

Permanent Total Disablement Benefit (PTD): If the insured has been confirmed suffering from PTD from the attending medical practitioner within twelve months from the date of the accident, the specified capital sum insured shall be payable to him based upon the loss. Under this benefit, the insurer shall cover the following losses –

  1. Loss of sight of both eyes, physical separation of two entire hands, two entire feet, one entire hand and one entire foot, loss of sight of one eye and loss of one entire hand or one entire foot
  2. Loss of use of two hands or two feet, or loss of use of one hand and one foot, or loss of sight of one eye and loss of use of one hand or one foot
  3. Loss of sight of one eye, or physical separation of one entire hand, one entire foot,
  4. Total and irrecoverable loss of use of a hand or a foot without physical separation

Note: If an accidental injury results in immediate PTD and affects employment or occupation of any description, the insurer will pay a lump sum equal to 100% of the capital sum insured stated to such insured.

Carriage of Dead Body Benefit: In case of death of the insured, the insurer shall reimburse the amount incurred due to transportation of the insured’s dead body to the place of the residence. Under this benefit, either a maximum of 2% of the capital sum insured or INR 10,000, whichever is less, will be payable to the nominee. To claim this benefit, the claimant should submit the following documents to the insurer –

  1. Original receipts of expenses incurred for carriage of the dead body
  2. Policy copy
  3. Duly filled claim form
  4. PAN Card Copy, Residence Proof, 2 passport size color photos of the claimant
  5. Copy of treatment papers, if the insured hospitalized, otherwise, website links, newspaper cuttings and other references of the accident
  6. Cancelled cheque with a duly filled NEFT Mandate form

Ambulance Charges Cover: Actual charges incurred for any ambulance service for transportation of the insured to the hospital from the place of the accident will be covered under the policy. The benefit is subject to a maximum sum of INR 2,000/-.

Note: Any of the above-mentioned benefits shouldn’t exceed the capital sum insured as specified in the policy schedule. On payment of additional premium, the policy benefit can be extended to Medical Benefits, Hospital Confinement Allowance and PTD improved benefits.

Exclusions from ICICI Lombard Personal Care Insurance Policy

The insurance company shall not be liable to cover any expenses arising out of the following:

  1. Compensation under any of the above-mentioned benefits shall not be admissible more than once in respect of the same period of disablement. However, carriage of dead body and ambulance charges benefit would be payable in addition, if applicable.
  2. Payment of weekly compensation until the total amount is ascertained and agreed by the insurer
  3. Medical expenses
  4. Death, injury or disablement due to intentional self-injury, suicide or attempted suicide
  5. Death, injury or disablement under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs
  6. Participation in aviation, ballooning, mounting, dismounting other than flying as a fare-paying passenger on a licensed aircraft
  7. Venereal disease or insanity
  8. Breach of the law with criminal intent.
  9. War, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, mutiny, military, usurped power, seizure, capture, arrests, restraints and detainment of all kinds and acts of terrorism.
  10. Ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste or the combustion of nuclear fuel.
  11. Nuclear weapon materials
  12. Death or disablement due to childbirth or pregnancy or due to its complications

Free Look period

You will have a period of 15 days (Free Look Period) from the date of receipt of the policy to review its terms and conditions. And if you disagree with any of the terms or conditions of the policy, you can return the policy stating the reasons for your objection. On such cancellation, you’ll be entitled to a refund of the paid premium after a deduction of the medical examination expenses and stamp duty charges.
