Accidental Death Benefit

This plan from HDFC ERGO provides the sum insured (chosen by the policyholder under the policy) to the nominee/beneficiary on the death of the policyholder. To get this benefit, the death should happen within 12 months from the date of bodily injury during the policy period and the same is the sole and direct cause of the death of the policyholder.

Permanent Total Disability Benefit

If a policyholder meets an accident and a bodily injury is the sole and direct cause of the total and irrevocable conditions, the policy will provide a part of/or the full sum insured to the nominee or beneficiary. Have a look at the following conditions.

  1. Total Sum insured upon loss of sight of both eyes, or the loss of two entire hands or two entire feet, or one entire hand and one entire foot, or loss of sight of one eye and loss of one entire hand or one entire foot
  2. Total Sum insured upon loss of use of two hands or two feet, or one hand and one foot, or of loss of sight of one eye and loss of use of one hand or one foot
  3. 50% of the sum insured upon loss of sight of one eye, or the loss of one entire hand or one entire foot
  4. 50% of the total sum insured upon  loss of use of a hand or a foot

If an individual faces a loss of employment due to permanent and total disability, this policy from HDFC ERGO will provide a lump sum amount equal to 100% of the total sum insured.

Note: Such conditions should happen within 12 months of the occurrence of the bodily injury.

Multiple Sum Insured Options

Individuals can choose from multiple sum insured options according to their needs. The minimum sum insured for this policy stands at INR 25,000 and can go up to INR 3,00,000 (in the multiples of INR 25,000). However, to choose a sum insured INR 1,00,000, you will need to submit your income proof. HDFC ERGO will approve it only after verifying your income details.

Premium Amount for HDFC ERGO Janata Personal Accident Insurance

Individuals can pay the premium amount towards the HDFC ERGO Janata Personal Accident Insurance via cheque or demand draft in favor of ‘HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited’. The annual premium will be INR 15 per sum insured of INR 25,000.

Group Discount Facility

HDFC ERGO also offers a discount on the premium depending on the size of the group. This group discount is slab-wise and increases with the size of the group.

What is Not Covered Under the HDFC ERGO Janata Personal Accident Insurance?

Policyholders will not be able to get any benefits in case of the following situations.

  1. War and nuclear perils
  2. Death resulting from pregnancy within 26 weeks of the delivery
  3. Intentional self-inflicted injury, suicide
  4. Influence of alcohol or drugs or narcotics unless professionally administered
  5. Participation in an adventure sport as a professional player
  6. Criminal Act
  7. HIV or AIDS
  8. Venereal or venereal-related diseases
