Flexible Sum Insured

With Edelweiss Health Insurance Silver Plan, you can choose from multiple sum insured options according to your convenience – INR 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 lakh.

What is the Policy Term?

For the Silver Plan of Edelweiss Health Insurance, policyholders can choose from three policy term options – 1, 2 or 3 years.

Hospitalization Expenses Coverage

If an insured person is diagnosed with an illness or suffers an injury that needs hospitalization during the policy period, Silver Plan will cover the following expenses.

  1. Room Rent (1% of the sum insured per day for sum insured up to INR 2,00,000, No capping on SI above INR 2 lakh)
  2. Nursing charges for Hospitalization as an Inpatient excluding private nursing charges
  3. Medical Practitioners’ fees, excluding any charges or fees for standby services
  4. Physiotherapy, investigation, and diagnostics procedures directly related to the current admission
  5. Medicines, drugs as prescribed by the treating Medical Practitioner
  6. Intravenous fluids, blood transfusion, injection administration charges and/or consumables
  7. Operation theatre charges
  8. The cost of prosthetics and other devices or equipment, if implanted internally during Surgery
  9. Intensive Care Unit charges at 2% of the sum insured per day)

Pre and Post-Hospitalization Medical Expenses Coverage

The policy also covers expenses incurred 30 days before and 60 days after hospitalization, respectively, up to the sum insured limit.

Day Care Treatment

If an insured person is undergoing a day care treatment (which takes less than 24-hour hospitalization), the policy will cover the expenses incurred on such treatment through a cashless or reimbursement facility. The coverage amount will be up to the sum insured.

Ambulance Cover

Edelweiss Health Insurance Silver Plan will also cover the necessary charges incurred on ambulance services for the transportation of the insured person to the nearest hospital. The coverage amount under this benefit will be up to INR 1,500.

Domiciliary Hospitalization

If an insured person is undergoing medically necessary treatment at home due to the unavailability of a hospital bed or he/she cannot be moved to a nearby hospital, the policy will cover the expenses during the policy year up to the sum insured.

No Claim Bonus Facility

If you do not claim in a policy year, your sum insured will increase by 10% of the basic sum insured in the following year. This is called the No Claim Bonus (NCB), which can rise up to 50% of the basic sum insured. Also, if you do make a claim, the NCB will reduce at the same rate at which it increased in the first place.

Also, policyholders of 18 years or above can enjoy a complimentary health check-up on every claim-free policy year.

Shared Accommodation

For the sum insured above INR 2 lakh, policyholders can also get a reimbursement on occupying a shared accommodation for each continuous period of 24 hours of stay. The benefit amount will be INR 800 per day up to INR 4,000 in the policy term.

Critical Illness Coverage

If an insured person is diagnosed with a critical illness for the first time during the policy period, your sum insured will increase by 50% of the basic sum insured. This is an optional benefit that you can choose at the start of the policy.

Edelweiss Health Insurance Silver Plan Eligibility Criteria

  1. The minimum entry age stands at 3 months, while the maximum can go up to 65 years.
  2. Under a single individual policy, a maximum of 8 members can be covered. These members can be a combination of self, spouse, dependent children and dependent parents and dependent parents-in-law, Brother, Sister, Grandmother, and Grandfather or any other relationship having an insurable interest.
  3. Policyholders can renew the policy lifelong.
