Now that the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is on a decline, fungal infections are increasingly found among patients as a post-COVID complication. Since the emergence of different types of fungal infections, individuals are worried about whether the Corona Kavach Policy will cover the same or not.
Well, the answer to this question is NO – Your Corona Kavach policy will not cover the treatment expenses incurred on fungus infection treatment. The reason is simple: fungal infections don’t come under the COVID-19 infection. However, if you have a comprehensive health insurance plan from any insurer, you will get coverage against any type of infection – be it black, white, viral, bacterial, etc. Your policy will cover any hospitalization, pre & post-hospitalization expenses, domiciliary treatment, etc. The claim norms will, therefore, remain the same as is the case with comprehensive health insurance plans. For cashless claims, you need to intimate the insurer 2-3 days before a planned hospitalization and within 24 hours of emergency admission. Reimbursement claims will require intimating the insurer within 24-48 hours of the hospitalization and submitting the treatment documents within a few days of getting discharged from the hospital.
