Under the Star Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan, the insured will get hospitalization cover for the following:-

  1. Room rent (which would be a private single A/C room), boarding and nursing expenses
  2. Surgeon, anesthetist, medical practitioner, consultants or specialist fees
  3. Expenses of anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, ICU charges, surgical appliances, medicines/drugs, diagnostic materials, x-ray, diagnostic imaging modalities, dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the cost of a pacemaker if used during the hospitalization period in treatment or surgery.

On the other hand, in the case of Star Family Optima Health Insurance Plan, the following will be covered in hospitalization cover:-

  1. Room, boarding and nursing expenses are covered up to INR 2,000 per day (for sum insured INR 1 to 2 lakh) and up to INR 5,000 per day (for sum insured INR 3 to 4 lakh), and if your sum insured is INR 5 lakh or above, you’ll get a single standard A/C room in the event of hospitalization.
  2. Surgeon, anesthetist, medical practitioner, consultants or specialist fees
  3. Expenses of anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, ICU charges, surgical appliances, medicines/drugs, diagnostic materials, x-ray, diagnostic imaging modalities, dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the cost of pacemaker, stent and other such expenses. For the coronary stent, the company will pay an amount up to the extent of the cost of the bare metal stent/drug-eluting cobalt-chromium stent/drug-eluting stainless steel stent. Whereas in respect of medicines, implants and such other items, the company pays up to the cost of alternate indigenous make.
  4. The cost of cataract treatment will be covered up to INR 12,000 per year for one eye only if the sum insured is INR 1 lakh or INR 2 lakh. Otherwise, the cataract cover would be as follows:-
