What is the Policy Term?

The policy term stands for one year. You can renew it every year for a lifetime.

Hospitalization Expenses Cover

If an insured person suffers an illness or accidental bodily injuries during the policy term and needs hospitalization, the policy will reimburse the following hospitalization expenses.

  1. Charges on room and boarding
  2. Fees of Doctor
  3. Intensive Care Unit
  4. Nursing expenses
  5. Surgical fees, operating theatre, anesthesia and oxygen and their administration
  6. Physical therapy
  7. Dressings, ordinary splints and plaster casts
  8. Drugs and medicines consumed on the hospital premises (During hospitalization)
  9. Miscellaneous medical costs such as laboratory, X-ray, diagnostic tests, etc.

The policy will cover the hospitalization expenses (where no surgical procedures are involved) according to the below table.

Note: The total amount payable for insured persons under the plan cannot exceed the sum insured.

Newborn Child Coverage

This policy also covers the expenses incurred on the treatment of newborn babies as in-patient hospitalization. The hospitalization period should not be less than 24 hours (after the delivery of the newborn child) during the policy term.

The coverage amount will be a part of the overall sum insured, and the newborn will be a part of the insured person’s family member until the expiry of the policy. Please check the following conditions related to the coverage facility.

  1. The mother should be an insured person under the same policy. The insurer will treat the claim for such a newborn baby (during the policy term) as a claim filed by the mother.
  2. The number of children already covered under the policy should be less than three.

Option to Increase the Sum Insured

Policyholders can also increase the sum insured at the time of renewal of the policy. After enhancement, the insurer will issue a new policy with an enhanced coverage amount.

Chola Arogya Bima Health Insurance Eligibility Criteria

  1. Minimum Age at Entry (For Adults) – 19 years
  2. Maximum Age at Entry (For Adults) – 75 years
  3. Minimum Age at Entry (For Children) – 1 Day
  4. Maximum Age at Entry (For Children) – 18 years
  5. There is no age limit on renewal.

What is Not Covered Under the Plan?

Chola Arogya Bima Health Insurance will not provide coverage in the following situations.

  1. Diagnostic, X-ray, or lab examinations unrelated to the diagnosis and treatment of the illness or injury (For which the insured person is hospitalized)
  2. External congenital diseases, defects or anomalies, etc.
  3. Convalescence, mental disorders, general debility, run-down conditions, etc.
  4. Intentional Self-injury
  5. War, invasion, an act of foreign enemies, hostilities, etc.
  6. Participation in any hazardous activities (Including but not limited to Scuba Diving, Motor Racing, Rock or Mountain Climbing, etc.)
  7. Pregnancy, childbirth & their consequences, etc.
  8. Use, misuse or abuse of alcohol, etc.
  9. Vaccination, inoculation, cosmetic treatments (Unless necessary due to an injury, burns or cancer, etc.)
  10. Durable medical equipment
  11. Travel or transportation costs or expenses
  12. Domiciliary Treatments (Treatments taken at home)
  13. HIV AIDS and all related medical conditions
  14. Costs on all medical treatments except allopathic
  15. Treatment taken outside India
  16. Circumcision unless necessary for the treatment of an illness
  17.  Tubectomy, vasectomy, sex change or treatment
